The mission of FRC Team 2896 is to prepare students for entry into a professional field and promote technological excellence and inspire leadership at a middle and high school level through participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition. We provide one our school’s core STEM programs, educating young men and women in fields ranging from finances and fundraising to mechanical analysis and project design.
“Technology. Teamwork. Community.”
Our team primarily competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition, a competition self-described as “A Unique Varsity Sport for the Mind™ designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the lives of engineers and scientists can be”.
The MechaMonarchs have been active since 2007, when we participated in the Hawaii Underwater Robot Challenge. We then joined the FIRST Robotics Competition in 2008 during the second Hawaii Regional and have a total of 8 FRC seasons under our belts!
In addition to our high school team members, we have our middle school robotics team who participates in FIRST Lego League. Here they research real-world problems, which include food safety, recycling, energy, and more. They are challenged to develop a solution by the use of Lego robots. By participating in this program, the students gain valuable experience before entering the world of FRC.
The team continues to work hard and compete every season. We can’t wait for this year’s competition, and we wish everyone the best of luck! Our team now has become the regional champions for the 2017 year along with Raid Zero from Taipei and Thunder Down Under from Australia. We are now going to Houston, Texas, but we need help.
